Congratulations to Tony P for winning the cat-4 MFG cross series title. He rides for the Baron sponsored team Bikesale.com and also trains on a Baron Outsider
Also, a big shout out to the Aaron H. on Carbon Neutral Cycling, another Baron sponsored team for taking the cat-3 mens title in the MFG series.
Oh, yeah and to Jamie S. for winning the day in the cat3 men. He also trains on a Baron in the winter.
The series culminated with an awards ceremony last night where the MFG guys tossed out the old caste system of better prizes going to upper categories and instead went with pin the derailleur on the bike; the closest to the actual derailleur won.

Aaron takes his prize
Cross is here in a major way and last weekend we finally realized or remembered what real mud is like. It’s sort of like getting kicked in the balls; once the pain goes away you sort of forget how much it sucked. Well, at least you don’t have to blame 17th place on lack of fitness.

Baron is proud to present our latest addition to out growing fleet of vehicles; The Belt Drive Rohloff commuter. This iteration utilizes special cable stops for direct cable routing to the hub for a clean and simple setup. In addition to the Rohloff specific cable routing, the frame comes with an eccentric bottom bracket for obtaining proper chain tension. The great part about using the eccentric BB is once the tension is set for the belt the wheel can be taken out easily without any readjustment. And to top it all of we are working with Gates and incorporating their belt drive system as an option for any of our frames (provided you want single speed, Rohloff or an Alfine hub).
This customer also requested S&S frame couplers which accents the S&S seastay split for taking the belt in and out. This becomes the perfect travel bike with no derailleurs and gunky chains to deal with when packing and unpacking. The whole package weighs in at 25.5 lbs with fenders and packed in the S&S travel case came to 45 lbs which easily comes in under the airline weight restrictions.

For the 2010 Cyclocross season we are teaming up with a new team in the Pacific Northwest, Carbon Neutral Cycling. Composed of a number of local cross veterans and new riders the team is working towards a carbon neutral race team, or as close as they can get. At Baron we love supporting local initiatives that are trying to make a difference as well as support their sponsors.
Here is the team bike that you’ll see out in the mud:

The whole Casey fam decided to Rendezvous in McMinnville for a get together to celebrate some new hardwood floors and Brent’s completion of his first Ironman a few weeks ago. In a continuing effort to not drive I opted for the train/bike combo. I got a route from bikely that describe the route as “rural country and gravel roads”. I figured, hey what better way to test my new Challenge Paris-Roubaix tires. What laid ahead of me was a SOLID 20+ miles of gravel roads after riding 40 paved with my Mission Workshop Bag comfortably loaded with 30lbs. Finished everything off with a sandwich at Sage where I sat a across from chef that headbutted that one guy.
Here are some photos of the ride.

I remember this from the 2009 Rapha Gentlemans Race:

False Advertising. This was neither the first nor the last watering hole.

Baron Outsider and some wood. Those tires measure out as 30’s.

For my teammate Pru-Dog.

My homeboy Andrew sold his children and bought a Ti travel race bike.
Pictures of it built up coming soon.
He kicks out 1400 1800 watts in a sprint so we added the beef.
